The only nonprofit organization dedicated to home improvement research, HIRI empowers our members with exclusive, ongoing home improvement data and information for making better business decisions. Founded in 1981 as the Do-It-Yourself Research Institute, we became the Home Improvement Research Institute in October 1989 to reflect an expansion in our research scope to include professional trades in the home improvement market. Today, our members are the leading manufacturers, retailers and allied organizations in the home improvement industry. 

It’s our mission to be recognized as the primary authority for effective, useful information about home improvement market, including product usage, services, behaviors and attitudes of homeowners and professionals in North America.
